Marta Elena Cortez-Neavel (she/her/hers)

Founder, CEO of Abilitee Adaptive Wear

United States

Marta has been and continues to be asking and listening to the disability and chronic illness community with her clothing and accessory line, Abilitee Adaptive Wear. She believes in collaboration and people with disabilities not only being at the table but leading the meeting—she herself has multiple invisible disabilities including ADHD.

Marta has been working hard on her new Abilitee Adaptive Wear collection with the support of the community. She is making her fashion collection with and for people with disabilities. She believes in collaboration as she works with other designers to co-found an Adaptive Fashion Trade Association. She has a fabulous and supportive community @abiliteeadaptivewear.

We asked Marta if she would like to add anything else to her accomplishments, and she stated: “In 2020, we launched with Aerie https://bit.ly/3j4QPPb and https://bit.ly/3cYEzMc. Only 3 designs remain on Aerie's site because the rest have sold out – numerous times! It's a huge step forward for disability representation in fashion, but we have much more work to do. In July, Abilitee will launch new medically-adaptive products, and I will begin my second venture – a truly inclusive clothing line, designed with the same disability considerations, but made for everyone to wear and enjoy.”
